Responsibilities:
Developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices and procedures to ensure generation of accurate and timely financial statements:
- Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure.
- Ensure an accurate and timely monthly and year end closing.
- Ensure the accurate and timely processing of payment and collection transactions.
- Monitors and analyzes department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
- Advises staff regarding the handling of non-routine reporting transactions.
- Supervise the general ledger group to ensure all financial reporting deadlines are met.
- Work with each direct report to establish goals and objectives for each year and monitor and advise on the progress to enhance the professional development of staff
- Responds to inquiries from the Director of Finance, and other finance and firm wide managers regarding financial results, special reporting requests and the like.
- Handle financial and internal audit processes and interact suitably with auditors
- Supervise treasury activities including cash flow management and forex dealing with banks
- Specific assignments as mandated by Jardine Schindler Group including project implementations etc
Timely and accurate reporting:
- Ensure the timely reporting of all monthly financial information.
- Collaborates with the other department managers to support overall department goals and objectives.
Ensure compliance of company policies, procedures in relation accounting work:
- Assist in development and implementation of new procedures and features to enhance the workflow of the department.
- Ensure a clean and timely year end annual audit and periodic tax audit.
- Supports budget and forecasting activities.
- Arrange relevant insurance for the company.
Build up an A team:
- Provide training to new and existing staff as needed
- Supervise coaches for their performance and development plan
Handle personnel issues relating to staff conflicts, absenteeism, performance issues, etc.
Qualification:
- At least 10 years’ experience in an accounting, finance role, preferably within construction, engineering, project management, and/or service industry.
- At least 3 years in managerial position in MNC is preferred.
- CPA or CPD is a plus
- Strong analytical skills and sound business judgments
- Strong communication, influencing and collaboration skills with good written and spoken English
- Demonstrates urgency, flexibility, adaptability and desire to learn, clearly defining priorities and objectives
- Strong team player as well as adept at leading a team through proper delegation of responsibilities as well as monitoring and guiding the fulfillment of objectives;
- Strong leadership skills- ability to see the larger picture and conceptualize the business scenarios based on business changes
- Fluent in Microsoft Office, SAP (preferred)
